Ok, I found the problem on this boiler to be the fan not running. I have a multi meter but don't really know what to check for (my main work is installations) is there a way for me to check that it is the actual fan that is gone and not something electrically wrong using the multi meter? If so what setting do I put it on etc?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Check for 240v supply to fan, if thats there check resistance at fan. will need to set meter in ohms, (horseshoe sign).

If 240v not there check PCB Fan connection, if not there could be PCB.

Best option is to have MI's with you, if you aint got them go on manufacturers site and download them.

approach with common sense and work safely
good advice given by clfgas btw

done a few of these recently, doesnt help when the vertical flue leaves the fan sitting in a puddle

There was signs of water in there, I asked if there had been a leak from the ceiling or anything and he said no. Did you have to replace the fan when you saw this?

there is a housing estate that all the sime vertical flue terms have water ingress.

under the fan is a dimple that catches the water like a puddle perfectly and leaves the fan steaping in water.

the council just keep throwing fans at them instead of getting the flues fixed

Who makes Sime boilers anyway, I suppose they're British are'nt they? :x

I've heard having a Sime boiler is like going around all day with a bear trap on you're head.
