sime friendly boiler hum/whine

hello i have a sime friendly boiler and this has started to buzz/hum/whine very loudly especially when hot water is running but equally when the central heating is on.

this is not a pipe noise this is more of an electrical noise.
i took off the cover and in front on left ,right next to the button that ignites pilot light is a black box type thing with a wire coming off it .this is what seems to be buzzing does anyone know what this is and if they are expensive to replace???

I think that you are talking about the gas valve!

They do sometimes buzz and can often be stoped by tapping GENTLY !

However gas and gas valves are really the province of CORGI registered engineers.

Be aware that your boiler is NOT viewed as very friendly by most engineers! ( Sorry Terry ).
