usually sludged up primary of plate heat exchanger, but can be thermister,
thanks for the tip got sludge remover in at present comes out on saturday 
Might work, make sure you run plenty of baths though.

Run heating for an hour and check the temperature of the rads right next to the valves on both sides and then the in the middle of the 2 points that you measured or felt. If the middle is colder than the sides, your problem is likely to come back.
