Last year the radiators warmed up when hot water was run,a new diaphragm was fitted but no improvement, ended up removing the divertor valve and cleaning the black deposit off the surfaces, flushed the system with cleaner and added inhibiter and all worked fine.Didnt use rad's much through summer till winter, worked ok for a while then same systems again. Before i strip down and clean etc as i did before does anyone have any ideas on cause and remedies?.

The cause is the bottom of the diverter valve does not follow the diaphragm unit and leaves some flow round the rads.

Whilst you can try cleaning it its not always 100% effective or clogs up again after a short while.

Thanks for reply but not sure what you mean by the
diaphragm not following the diverter,is it just a matter of cleaning out the diverter on a regular basis.
