Hello

Just after some advice…
I have a garage that is connected with a neighbour, with a dividing wall. The roof needs replacing and the plan is to use EPDM.

Current construction is brick all the way around with the roof sloping to the rear, using asbestos sheets.

The neighbour wants a warm roof, where as I don’t need one.
The plan on my side is to run 6x2s on top of the brick all the way around and strap this to the brick. Then run 5x2 joists on top and across (left to right), to support the osb above and EPDM, there would also be be 18mm ply packers between the joists and 6x2s (to match the height of the other side).
The warm roof side would have 5x2 running around the brick, then joists going between these to support the 1st layer of osb. Then 150mm of PIR with 6x2s running around the edge to hold the PIR in place. Then 2nd layer of osb with EPDM.
So both sides should be level at the top for the EPDM.

Is it ok to strap timber to the brick like that and then run joists over the top of them?

Or should mini stud wall be created to run around the edge, instead of stacking joists on
top of each other?

Or is there a better way to do it with wood?

Thanks
