Hi, I am replacing the skirting boards in my house. What gap should i leave between floor and skirt? I intend getting carpet fitted.

you should scribe skirt to subfloor so you end up with no gap! Also silicon base of skirt to subfloor trying not to allow silicon to leak out at front. This should be underneath and not visible so making so called air tight. This will prevent draft mark in carpet and is also new reg that is coming out in new build property.
