Sliding Wardrobe Door Gap Filling

Hi all.

The doors have arrived, below is a picture of the gap from the top of the door to the ceiling where I will attach the top runner.

I am thinking of making a timber frame to fill the gap at the top, would this be the correct thing to do?

If you have any other ideas, please throw them my way! Many thanks, Paul

Yes.
I would make it out of 2x2 with a few extra verticals. Possibly set it back so that any covering material is flush with the wall. You could use plasterboard rather than wood to skin the gap.

Cut the LH trim so it stops level with the door (or replace) and run a similar trim along the top of the doors.
You could fit similar coving to continue around the room and paint the new stuff above the door to match the wall.

Or as above but use ply /mdf above and colour match it to the doors.
