Morning folks.

Long time lurker, first time poster.

We are looking to replace a small section of our larger front lawn with decorative stones, approx 3.4m x 1.1m.

The lawn is relatively flat until this last 1.1m section which slopes towards the house brick. Lawn goes from same level as adjacent tarmac drive to this slope of approx 150mm (2 bricks high) over the 1.1m.

The adjacent tarmac drive ends at this 1.1m point from the house then a porch area to the front door. The drive level and porch are at door threshold level. The porch is a brick structure so the 3.4m x 1.1m area is brick on two sides.

Could this slope in the lawn be intentional to bring the lawn below the dpc?

What would be the best way to replace this lawn area with stones? Lift grass, level with type 1 then gravel?

Thanks in advance.

It's a possible reason for the slope. Can you see any evidence of where the damp course is in the wall?
If it is 2 bricks high from the bottom of the slope then there's your answer.
One possible way, though I'm not entirely sure it will work, is to remove the grass on the slope, lay some good quality weed control over the slope and then fit some gravel retaining mats. Have a look at these. Might save having to lay a sub base.

Thanks.

Picture attached this time.

If DPC is running through at door threshold level then it would be 2/3 bricks high from bottom of slope. DPC is not visible at the front but can see a small bit at rear which is at door threshold level.
