I have a very small weep where the pipe (microbore) goes into the valve on a downstairs radiator. It has never been 100% as it enters at a slight angle and I have had to nip the nut up every now and then to stop it. However, I have now run out of "nip". I can see only two options, use a leak stopper in the system or remake the joint. My questions are:
Do the leak treatments work? If I go for a repair, is there a way to minimise the amount of water that will come out when I pull the pipe, i.e. shutting off all other rads etc? It is a combi system.

Go for a repair. Better than leak treatment.

Close off rad valve where it leak and relive the pressure by open a drain cock till it stop then close drain cock.

Undo nut and remake it, some water might run a little but will create a vacucm and no water will come out.

Dan.

Ps close off the flow and return valves below combi as well.

Thanks for the advice. I must admit that I would prefer to repair as well. Is it worth shutting off all the other rads?

Put a rag round it for the next fortnight, it will then be warmer, get if fixed.

Sealant can work, but it sounds like the joint moves a bit, which it wont like at all.

If there is some movement, and you remake the joint, you can get pipe stiffeners for soft copper. Might prevent a similar occurrence in the future.

Exactly the same as an MDPE stiffener....but smaller.
Kuterlite fig 690 for example.
