Small Pond Skimmer & Pump?

Long story short, we've got a "pond" under a tree with a waterfall as below. Nothing fancy, about 1x1m in size.

Our pump has just gone so need a new one, but I am forever scooping out leaves from the pond as it just builds up sludge which is likely the reason for the pump dying.

Does anyone know of a pump that also has a skimmer on it. I've looked around online and skimmers seem to be quite expensive, but also pretty big. Only need something smallish to stop the birch leaves from sinking.

We've been using hot tub chlorine tablets to stop algae build up which works pretty well in the summer, but as soon as leaves start falling, its a nightmare to maintain.

May not be the answer you want but have you considered a fine gauze mesh stapled to the underside of the lipping to stop the leaves falling in?
If the inner lips are simply held in place with a few nails/screws remove them and lay the boards upside down in the correct position while you staple the mesh into place. Lift up the whole lot, flip over and nail/screw back into place.
