Smart options for Vaillant Boiler?

Hey,

So this is my setup in the house i have just moved into - Vaillant EcoFIT Sustain 830 combi boiler with 2 wired thermostats - VRT 350´s, Plus the VR66/2 control centre.

I wish to have smart features so i can control the heating via an app / alexa.

Tado have said the VR66/2 is incompatible.

Vaillant are saying i need the Vaillant connect, wired sensohome, and a wired vr92.... which looks to be north of £400 when added together, and not including any installation charges, so can´t see any financial savings are going to be made. (we are in housing association housing and do have permission for installing smart thermostats as long as we return the original system if/when we leave)

Hive say it should be compatible but can not confirm until the installer turns up on the day - googling VR66/2 and hive it become obvious the two are not compatible.

Is anyone aware of any other options, i.e other suppliers that are compatible?
Or even if i got my pricing wrong for the Vaillant options and they can be had cheaper?

I’d stick with the Vailiant system you have and assuming you have an external temperature sensor and the heat curves are correct ignore the smart controls which will be expensive as you have found. Your system should find its own settings and additional controls from a different manufacturer are going to cause conflicts.

Yep, no external temp sensor - whilst the new build was wired with 2 thermostats, that was as far as they went.

Beginning to look like a complete overhaul is needed to get some cost saving smart features.
