Smeg dishwasher Help!

We have a E6 error code which means i think that the diswasher is unable to drain its self. Its a DWF 409SS.
My question is how does my husband take the thing apart to get to the drain pump? He has taken the side off and there is what looks like a plastic container and it looks like its full of mashed up baked beans! He cant tell if its some sort of filter agent or not! Would guess thats the blockage tho!
Can anyone give us any tips please!! It would be really appreciated!

My hubby put it back together but now it keeps tripping the anti flood! It sounds like there is something in the pump rattling! Any ideas anyone please? :rolleyes:
