Smell anything 'fishy'?

Got asked by a friend to have a look at their shower pull cord switch as it wasn't working. It's a low ceiling with those awful pine wood panels and the switch was mounted inside the bathroom right next to the end of the bath. Got the power off, undid the screws, gently pulled it down from the backbox to be confronted with what you see in the pictures.
They then told me that for the last few months they had noticed a slight fishy smell when using the shower!
