i live in a bungalow, brick built in 1964 with cavity walls
under the carpet in one bedroom there is a stale smell...i lifted the carpet, and the waffled rubber underlay, which sits right on the floorboards which are unpainted or varnished.
where the underlay covers over the floorboards there is a stale smell and the floorboards look damp but arent..but are very cold.
the floorboards are pretty tight fitting in the t+g area and at the skirtings.
near the edge of the floor, where the is the gripper is and a horizontal gap between the underlay and gripper, the floorboards are dry looking and unstained
any suggestions welcomed as to how to treat the flooring to get rid of the smell.
