smelly slime in overflow pipes

i keep getting a build up of smelly slime in my overflow pipes in my bath and basin.i have only just recently cleaned them out and it has come back again,any ideas?yes,i cleaned it with an acid based substanced from my local diy store,which worked very well.
we moved into this house 2 years ago and i installed the bathroom and plumbing less than 12 months ago,but i have never experienced a waste build up, so quick , like this before.
