Smoke / Fire alarms going off every ten mins... Arghhhh!!!!

Hi Guys,

since 730 this morning our smoke alarms have started going off... I reset them and litrally to the min they go again 10 mins later.

We have two Alarms, both linked together, so when one goes off, so does the other.

i've checked everywhere and cant find any fire etc

Anyone come accross this before?

They are mains powered too, so annoying... esp as i go to work at 9... and my other half is adamant if they go off while were out the fire brigade will brake in ....lol...

Any pointers would be great...

it does depend sometimes on how old they are?

if they are about 8 to 10 years old, change em out for new ones.

check electrical connections (WITH THE SUPPLY OFF)

re power and see what happens,

at the cost of new ones, i personally would just bin them and fit new ones

Well, after dragging the ladders out of garage and going for a closer look, I noticed a spider web all down one side of the alarm.... So out came hoover....

... hay presto.... it stopped going off every ten mins....

Either the web was causing some kind of interference or i had a crafty spider have a cheeky puff in there...lol...
