Our shower is broken and its upsetting the missus.

It has two controls one for water flow - one for temperature - something is wrong with the temperature - it just stays on hot - really hot. The control isnt letting any cold through at all.

This is what it looked like before I took it apart:

I was hoping to turn off the hot and cold water, pull out the thermostatic control - and either clean it (vinegar?) or buy a replacement part. This is what it looks like now:

BUT I dont see where to turn the water off, or what to pull out?

Any ideas on what I should do next ?

Thanks !

Yep, send your pics to a few shower spares people and they'll tell you what bits you need. Lunns, Showerdoc...

You won't be isolating the water using anything that you have exposed by taking off the cover. The water should isolate further back in the pipework somewhere. As far as what needs cleaned/replaced then it will be the centre mixing valve but does need identified to enure correct method for removal.
As Chris said send showerdoc the pics and they'll hopefully identify what type of control/make of shower it is.
