Is a socket set of any use for the DIY plumber?

So far, I have got by with an adjustable spanner and a Stilson-type wrench for compression fittings.
But I may be buying a socket set. I suppose I might need it to accommodate the common 15 mm and 22mm nut sizes.

Any recommendations for a DIY set?

I don't think you'll find too much use for a socket set really, but absolutely vital are, I think, tubular spanners for tap back nuts (plus a tommy bar) and similar for monobloc tap bolts.
I also have a pair of adjustables from Screwfix that have jaws that open wider than conventional ones...well handy!
Quality alligator jaw pliers are great too, but choose these carefully.

I keep a socket set in the van - usually for fixing the van but have used it on enough occasions within a plumbing job....

Read the Heading and thought that was a pretty good deal .........

Though with some of the "Plumbers" I have met over the Years maybe not !!
