Hello

Electric stat for a cooker has reached its temp and has expanded the bellows and broke the switch to the solenoid valve, the valve should close shutting of the gas supply {down to by-pass rate}

Right the question i am asking is

1 if the burner does not reduce when temp is reached is it the stat broke

or

is the solenoid valve stuck on {dirt on seating}

How could i test which is at fault?????

Acs round the corner and worrying a little bit.

Any help would be great

What gas cooker has an electric stat?

The solenoid is electric and usually connected through an electric oven timer. So that the oven stat can be left at gas mark required then when the required on time occures the solenoid lifts and the oven ignites. So solenoid is either fully open or closed it does not vary the gas supply to the oven this is done by the stat.
Then when the required off time is reached power is cut to the solenoid via the clock

If the gas was staying high then it would be the oven stat at fault.
