Hi,

We have these kind of cracks above most doorways and windows in our house.

It was a new build in 2012 and I'm just putting it down to a bad boarding job (unless anyone knows otherwise). The walls aren't plastered and I think the cracks are at the board joins.

There's a million different videos on the internet all offering different solutions, but what's the best process and product for a uk house?

Thanks!

Those kind of cracks are particularly awkward. If you rake them out you will damage the "scrim/jointing tape".

In the past I have brushed PVA in to the crack and used very thin adhesive jointing tape and then EasyFill over the top using a 12" filling knife, sanding back when cured.

Alternatively I just line the whole room, the lining paper hides the hairline cracks.
