The back room in my Victorian House has a sloping floor - maximum difference from one side to another is 6cms. The joists seem quite sound & aren't sagging, just sloping along their length & also across the room.
I'm thinking I could sort this out by screwing an 18x144mm board to the side of each joist, so creating a level support on which I could then re-lay the floor boards or replace them with 18mm chipboard or ply. At most there would be 6cm of these above the joists, reducing to nothing at other points.
Any flaws in my plan? or if it's a good one, then how do I calculate how many screws (3'' No 10's) would be needed to fix the boards to the joists, & would 18x144 boards be suitable?
