Sound Problems

Hi, I have just bought a Trust sp-6250k this
When I plug it all up ( 3 x 3.5mm plugs green/orange/black) to the matching plugs on soundcard the sound seems rather tinny with little or no bass.
There is also no sound coming out the woofer of centre speaker.

I have a realtek HD soundcard (could this be the problem)
AMD sempron 3400+
1.81 Ghz
3GB Ram.

Can anyone advise me on what the problem my be, I have tried entering the realtek audio manager but there seems to be very little alterations that can be made.

Just to make sure I understand you. Is the soundcard built in to the motherboard or a seperate PCI card? Also how many sockets does your soundcard have and are they marked up front rear and centre/sub like the Trust quick install guide shows?
If only three sockets then only one of these (light Green) is audio out. The others are Mic (pink??) and audio in(blue??). That said some soundcards can double up on the use of these sockets in the software so that you can select between audio in/mic to 5.1 out.
Do you have the latest driver for the soundcard? It might be worth checking the manufacturers website as later drivers have more functionality such as changing the use of each socket.

Hi, Thanks for helping, this is a pic of the back of my pc, Would I be right in thinking soundcard is part of mother board?
( ive unplugged the sound cables for clarity )
I'll try to find a driver update and see if that helps.
Does it look like the soundcard is compatable with the Trust system?

Ive updated the driver, it made no difference.
Would putting in a better soundcard in to a PCI slot help me any or should Realtek HD Audio support 5.1 and do the Job.
If a new sound card looks a better bet is there any particular spec that I need, Not doing anything too fancy, just want to get my new sound system to work.

That only works for stereo Breezer. What BigJon has bought is a Trust 5.1 surround sound system which has three leads one for rear, one for front and one for centre which he has correctly plugged in to the Orange, Black and Grey sockets on his motherboard soundcard.

BigJon, the soundcard is onboard your motherboard but should be fine. What breezer has said gives me an idea. I assume you still have your old stereo speakers? If so try plugging them into each of the sockets (orange, black, grey) in turn and see if you get any sound out of them.

If not can you let me know the make of the PC or the make of the motherboard. You should be able to read this from the bios screen when you first boot up. If not download CPUz http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php and run this and it should provide motherboard information on one of the tabs.
It is possible that there is an option in the bios to enable 5.1 or switch between that and stereo. Hit the Delete button(or possibly F2) during the first boot screen to enter the bios setup. Navigate to Onboard PCI devices to see if you can enable 5.1

Hi fozzie, I have :-

Asrock AM2F6G-VSA AM2 motherboard
AMD SEMPRON AM2 3400 ( 1800 Mhz ) processor

I tried my old stereo speakers in all the other sockets and the only one i'm getting an output on is the green one, In doing so i've also proved that i can get all the surround speakers working individually from the green socket, so this rules out faulty speakers.

I had a look in the bios but could not find anything resembling sound.
I've tried setting the speakers in sound & audio devices too but no luck.
Are soundcards liable to fail or do you think it would it be unlikely it was at fault.

You not seeing this?? Several speaker configuration choices . . .

I have - Left and right desktop speakers plus SubWoofer.

Tower output socket - green- to subwoofer input, subw output to r/h desk speaker, output from r/h speaker to input left hand speaker.

Woofer and r/h desktop are power connected.

Sound is very acceptable.

Hi, yes thats exactly what ive got but when i plug the cable in it says "no output".
the only one it seems to recognise is the green one.
I borrowed a PCI soundcard today and when I plug it up everything works fine, I can only imagine theres some sort of loose connection on original soundcard.
I think I'll just spend a tenner or so and get a PCI card, anything for an easy life
