I'm doing a room up, it has lath and plaster. I wanted to improve the sound proofing.

I've done it before in a room, remove the lath and plaster, put up resilient bars and rock wool insulation in the partition, boarded and skimmed.

Does this actually improve soundproofing? I think it does, and have no problems taking the lath off the walls (i know it's messy) I wanted to check with the pros if it makes much difference

thanks!
