Tottenham fans call themselves yids. Is it offensive to use the word if you support Chelsea?

And I don't use the word but I live in a Tottenham town and the Tottenham fans use the words. I know Jewish Tottenham fans who use the terms with passion.

When Tottenham fans use the term Yids it encourages opposing fans to sling the slur back at them, bringing it into wider use...and the world turns, so here we are again.
