Really hope somebody can help me on this.

I have a white room that I am going to paint a dark maroon colour.
I sanded down the current white emulsion paint and in a few places have gone down to the bare plaster below. It sort of flaked off. I will therefore need to seal these spots and was considering using dulux stain block.

Is it Ok just to patch these areas or do I need to do the whole wall in order to get a consistent finish all over?

I am concerned that where I use the stain block the new coat of emulsion will go on in a different way to the rest of the wall.

You dont need to 'seal' them as such....and you certainly dont need stain block 9unles you have stains of course, which you didnt mention)

Just treat the bare patches t a thinned out coat of emulsion then a normal coat...but put it on with a roller, this shoulf help match up the different textures where you have sanded the wall to a flatter finish.
