Stain on wall

M

marsaday

We have a conservatory with a breeze block wall on one side. This has been plastered and is painted grey. No damp is rising, but i think we have a damp patch in the middle of the wall.

The paint has discoloured here and we are going to repaint.

Is there anything we can apply to stop the damp coming through ?

Is this just related to it being a conservatory and so it gets damp in the winter.

Check your guttering isn't overflowing.

Possibly, but it is in the middle of the wall. I will check.

Here is a pic. We have rubbed down the area and so i dont know if you will see the discoloration that well.

You can use stain block paint once you have rectified the cause of the dampness.
Normally damp patches such as yours would indicate a dirty tie in a cavity wall.

I think this is single skin, but may be wrong. It is the wall next to the neighbours conservatory wall and our conservatory is built around this and the back of the house..

It may have a cavity, but a cannot tell.

Cleaned out gutter today though. pretty bad
