Afternoon,
First post, great forum.
Can anyone advise please?
Recently moved in and I’d like to smarten the window frames up, external only. Internal looks like a clear varnish which is fine. External looks like a stained varnish. And not a nice one. Peeling in some places. No rot.
Rather than completely strip back, is it ok to sand so the new coloured varnish will adhere? Does the colour in the varnish happily sit on existing varnish if sanded? I’m happy to stay the same shade or darker to avoid colour match/bleed through issues. I’m aware it’s a multi-stage process but I enjoy the hard work.
Can you recommend a good stain varnish and also a filler please?
Much appreciated.
