I have to replace our hardwood back door due to damage from attempted break-in. Fitting not problem and have some Sadolin stain for the job.

The blurb on the tin recommends I use "sadinal classic wood treatment" prior to using the stain(ie, first coat). Is this a necessary step, or merely sadolin products selling more sadolin products?

Any tips much appreciated.

1st coat ;Sadolin Classic (or two if it doesnt cover or you wish to richen the colour) followed by a couple of protective coats of Sadolin Extra

Sadolin is designed for people who have heaps of money and need to get rid of it.

I don't like it much.
