I am in final process of renovating our Victorian 2 storey house, and have recently uplifted the stair carpet. The stairs are in good condition and we are deliberating on whether to have a stair runner or to have them bare. I like them bare, but I am worried that during the winter they will be cold. Another concern is that if we have the stairs bare they would be too slippery. The runners I have seen are either too garish or “old”. I am looking for something contemporary and fun. Does anyone know of a company that supplies and fits stair runners? I’ve found a company online where I can buy rods, but I am unsure if I should have them. Do the rods hold the runner down, or are they only decorative? Please help!
