We have a penthouse apartment in Spain. The stench pipe for the apartments below is on our sunroof. The smell is often terrible. Has anyone any idea how we can get rid of this smell?

It's obvious that if the soil pipe terminates on your sun roof, you will be able to smell it. Unfortunately, Spain is not known for it's good sanitary conditions.
As suggested, you could extend the pipe so that the smell comes out higher up or perhaps you could fit an AAV (Air Admittance Valve) but I am not sure of the rules and regs of Spain - if there are any.
Failing that, you could grow lettuce in the pipe and sell it to Tesco in the UK
