hi, im fitting a fuse board thats only for storage heaters, The supply to the house is brand new and after the main fuse there is a 4 pole isolation switch. Can I fit a fuseboard that has an rcd for a main switch and use the 4 pole isolator as the main switch isolation ? - which would obviously turn off the main board as well.

The only other idea that I had was use a split load board but only use the RCD protected side altough I am very limited on space and a 6 way rcd board would fit nicely.

Are there any other products that would be suitable that I havent seen ?

TIA

Yes, your first option is fine.

An RCD is required unfortunately due to the 17th edition regs and conceiled cabling. If the cables where clipped direct or in trunking, an RCD would not be required.

I can se plenty of trouble down the line with an RCD protecting several storage rads.......The joys of the 17th!

The RCDs that are sold for use in CUs are perfectly suitable for isolating the stuff in the board to work on it.

The only time you would need to turn off the pre-board isolator is if you needed to replace the RCD.

But he does say the four pole iso is already in place, most likely as the DNO installed the service and metering prior to the customer presenting tails......

So use it!
