The brother in law as been tidying his allotment and as offered me some strawberry plants,what's the best thing to do with them now,plant them up in pots and over winter in a cold frame or straight in the garden with them.

I'd put them straight into the garden. Strawberries are pretty tough and a frost or two won't bother them at all.
