Bit embarrasing but here goes...

Basicaly im a fat b*****d and weigh 25st

Just had a new large Acrylic bath 1800x900 with amazonite coating fitted to downstairs (solid floor) bathroom.

The bath looks solid but the frame seems a bit flimsy, two metal strips across bottom of bath with four thinish metal screws fitted into the floor.

I stood in in before to shower and it creaked a little but was fine, but i was scared of lying down in a bath full of heavy water incase the legs bent or broke.

Is there anything I can do to give the bath some extra support?

My Dad suggested putting some bricks under the bath?Is this a good idea, or has anyone got a better one.

Thanks Ste.

Bit late now but should have gone for a steel bath, you could use a 2x2 frame to support all round fixed to wall where possible, should prevent embarrassment. ;)
Bricks to support base are a good idea as they don't 'give' though the floor might.

Nowt wrong with lying down in the bath. At least your weight will be spread along the bath more than it would by standing up. ;) ;)

I use a product my employer manufactures which are flooring pedestals, these are steel adjustable supports which fit between the floorboards and the chipboard on the base of the bath.

make a 2"x2" framework and screw it to the wall and floor where possible ( yes i know its a concrete floor ) and yes you can use bricks although i would see if i could possibly fit some polystyrene between bricks and bottom of bath.
