Stripped thread in bleed valve

I have a cast iron radiator in my new home with a brass 3/8 bleed valve as shown in the picture. The problem is the thread in the radiator have been stripped and the bleed valve doesn't tighten. I have tried a new bleed valve with ptfe tape but the bleed valve just turns in the hole without fully tightening and leaks when the radiator is on.

I wanted to drill, tap and use an insert to bring it back to 3/8ths but the bleed valve didn't screw into the insert that I bought so I didn't proceed with the fix.

Is there a kit I can buy that will fix this issue, or is there another way to fix it that I haven't considered? I'd rather not have to buy a new radiator.

I wonder if you could drill out. Tap a new thread and fit a larger valve.

but the thread in the wire inserts didn't match the bleed valve so it was useless.

I was hoping there might a kit that contains both the bleed valve and tap repair kit so I know they would match.

The thread will be BSP. Drill it out and then tap it with a 1/4 inch BSP tap.You can then screw in a 1/4 inch brass nipple and a female cap.The cap could then be used to bleed the rad.

I don't know for sure but you don't actually need a bleed valve, just use a bolt in the new tapped thread.

I repaired a very similar rad last year .
Took rad out cleaned up area round air valve new air valve tig brazed it in..
