how do i know if a wall is load bearing?
Is it as simple as saying there is another wall on top upstairs?

I'm guessing i'd find out if i put a hole in it and it either stays put or falls down - but i'd rather not take the risk!

Lift the upstairs carpet, if your floorboards are running the same way as the wall down stairs, its usually load bearing
