Hi,

I wonder if anyone can offer me some advice.

I was asked round to a friends house last night (i sold it too her earlier in the year) because the hot water bath tap is not coming on anymore. It seems to hardly turn as much as I remembered it but the sink hotwater tap is working fine.

Does anyone know what steps I should take to investigate the problem? Or perhaps have an idea what has happened? She has been in hospital so it hasn't been used in about 4 weeks.

Thanks in advance

Russell.

If it's a traditional tap then the washer has probably worn away to the point that the head gear assembly has unscrewed within the body.

Isolate the hot water supply, remove the head gear, fit a new washer, lubricate the head gear with silicone grease and re-assemble.

If it's a quarter turn (ceramic) cartridge then it's probably easier to replace the cartridge
