Hi there - I have a chipboard floor in my bathroom and need to lay ceramic or travertine tiles. The chip board floor has not been laid very well and has a few minor gaps in.To remedy this I was planning on laying DITRA matting and then tiling over the top of that. I've never done this before so was looking for some tips ?

What do you use to stick the matting down with and will this work with a chipboard floor ?

Do you then just use a normal floor tile adhesive over the top of the matting ?

Any advice much appreciated.

Cheers

Thanks for the comments on this one, sounds like DITRA matting may not be the way forward for me.

So I am left with the following, a chip board floor with big holes in it where it's had to come back up for some changes in piping. Am I on the right lines below ?

Get rid of all the chip board and take it back to floor joists and then put ply down. If so which ply and what thickness is recommended ?

Once this is down I can then use a tile adhesive for wooden floors and then tile away ?

Or is there anyway I can put something thinner over the top so I don't have to pull up the chipboard which the builder nailgunned and glued down.........

Thanks in advance for help.
