We have a new summerhouse (just a few weeks old) that was erected by company we bought from. Have just noticed the door is splitting. Can this be glued, or is it likely to get worse?

it can be glued -mitre bond would do it.

open it up with a knife, put some on the crack and blow it in -one of those nozzles from a silicone tube is ideal.

push it tight with an offcut of wood and spray with activator.

(be very careful you dont get skin stuck to it)

if you just want to use ordinary wood glue -use a block of wood and a clamp.

What is the cut out for? It can't be for the mortice lock as it is at 90 degrees to the lock.
It's a large and deep cut out for such a slim piece of wood.

I can't make out what we're looking at

Can you stand back and take a wider pic please

A modern weatherproof wood glue can be very strong, if you can inject it right into the crack and clamp it until set, and there are metal reinforcements for doors and frames that might be suitable.
