Hi All
looked at loads of posts about the problems with this boiler and I need a little bit more help/guidance.
First off i intend to get to the pcb and check over etc.
So first off I cant find any instructions on even how to get the cover off etc to get to it and dont want to get heavy handed before reading the manual which I cant seem to track down.
Any help?
Second, my problem is this.
I know the the thing has gone into 'reset' mode because the pump in the airing cupboard carries on until I reset the boiler.
Also if I try to advance the HW on the programmer it will not advance into off unless I reset but the CH will advance, not sure if that helps
Thanks
Steve

If you cannot locate and remove the two screws to access the PCB then I might doubt that you are competent to deal with the PCB safely.

British Gas do a fixed price repair for about £200 which would replace the PCB with the new improved version which is more reliable.

An independent cannot compete with that price when the PCB costs about £160 to buy.

I'm actually a qualified electrical engineer so dont worry about that side of things thanks.:D
Just did not want to start unscrewing things only to find out I'd done some thing wrong.
The screws I can see just look they would not give access to the pcb as it would 'appear' the cover would stay in place

Can you actually see the PCB or are you looking at a grey box? If a grey box then you have the latest version PCB which, I think, is sealed within said box. Stand to be corrected though.

I had not considered that Peter!

Perhaps he wants to get into the sealed plastic PCB box on the latest version. I cannot see how its opened but its probably those plastic hooks where you have to know exactly where they are or break it open!

However, if its the new one then its much less liklely to be at fault.

More likely to be something else on the boiler. One assumes that he has held the reset button for 10 secs to see if its an overheat or an ignition failure?

Wouldn't be so sure. I had to change my first "new" version PCB a couple of weeks ago. The cost of the PCB is only about £10 less than the whole kit.

its about 10 years old so defo not new.
I just want to get the main metal cover/s off to even get to the wiring etc

Totally at your own risk!

You take out ONE screw towards the left of the control panel but inside the controls cover.

Then slide cover forward to remove!

Then remove next screw at top and PCB carrier tilts forward on crude hinge at bottom!

But if you cannot see that for yourself are you sure.....
