Hi all,
I need to terminate an swa cable at my consumer unit. Are there any better ways than using a galvanised box or replacing CU for a metalclad one.
Hi all,

you can use a plastic CU, however itll not be as stong as the metal and the SWA could crack it. you could use a galvanised thru box to terminate the SWA and run the cables from the SWA into the CU
easiest way is probablly to use a small metal box (a metalclad backbox with blank plate will do fine for this) then just run the inside structure of the cable (which is still double insulated) into the CU along with a seperate earth wire for the armoured
some like to use an isolator or rcd at the start of the SWA in which case you just put that in a metal box.
