...if swapping them is OK I'd be getting rid of the roses and wiring it as Fig 1B in a choc box.

You can't use bits of choc block above the ceiling. Use a junction box.
He already said he'd be using a choc box.

Which is why I said he can't do it and that he should use a junction box.
Why can't he use a choc box?

What is a choc box? The implication and photo suggested he was going to use connection blocks bare in the ceiling.
