This is probably a stupid question, but some genius decided not to fit any kind of stop valve to the hot water pipe going from the boiler to the kitchen tap - which is a problem when I need to remove the old sink and tap.

What is the best way to stop the water flow so I can remove the old tap and fit a valve? I can cut off the water to the whole house, or switch off the electricity supply to the boiler. Any ideas welcome.

Turn the cold water off at the stop tap, turn boiler off, do your business, turn water back on, turn boiler on.

It’s not a requirement to fit a stop valve on the hot pipe. As above or isolate the cold going into the boiler if you’re confident the valve won’t leak
