tanking a wet room

OK so I have bought a kit for tanking a wet room but I am a bit nervous about using it now. I did some reading and I understand if the tanking is not done well it could leak and I would rather not have a big wet spot on my living room ceiling. I have read a wet room tanking guide and watched a few youtube videos but any advice would be greatly appreciated.
