There is a tapping noise emerging from the loft when the toilet is flushed or the shower is in use. I would be most grateful for some indication of the cause of the problem.

Peter does it go Boom di di boom di di boom boom boom :?: Well Goodness Gracious Me

If toilet, then it's unlikely to be thermal expansion of hot pipes.

If the noise is slight, probably poorly supported or clipped pipes moving as the pressure changes. Go up in the loft and watch them carefully when somebody else fiddles with the toilet/shower to replicate the issue.

If the noise is loud, might be water hammer, but start by checking for poor supports first.
