VERY NOISY TOILET!!!!

When I flush the toilet is sounds like the QE2 leaving port! The noise appears to be coming from up in the loft. We have found that the noise stops if we turn the cold tap on at the same time as flushing!!

How can we solve this problem once and for all?

No, but it sounds like water hammer. does your cold water to your toilet and washbasin come from up above in loft?

Does it make the noise if you open a tank fed tap.

ok, it`s probably down to high pressure and sometimes a fault in the cistern. have someone go in loft, trace pipes to bathroom. pull chain, see what happens then get back.

If you are sure your toilet is filled from a tank, you can try changing the ballvalve, or tying a wait to the float. (not too big, 100 - 200 grams)
