Wealthy people buy assets, …..that’s not money which grows the economy.
They buy SOME assets, they also buy more of the stuff that poor people do. They go for a mitred dovetail instead of a lap joint so woodworking pooor people get more money that way.
They also develp some of their assests to provide growth. If they sat on their rear ends doing nothing they'd soon lose it.
The challenge is that this country has a serious problem with wealth inequality.
The wealthy have become increasingly wealthy whilst ordinary working people have seen wages stagnate.
It's not a problem having an inequality.
It's only the level of money that the poor have, which is a problem.. SHow me how someone better off getting himself better off makes a poor person poorer.
And shove all your straw man stuff, and all your stuff about how the rich are corrupt, which you're making up
More and more assets are being held in the hands of a tiny number of the very wealthy.
You need the wealthy, they're the only ones who can put money into growth activities.
The amount of money the wealthy store in accumulating assets and not spent in the day to day economy.
Is not a problem. As above, they also put some into building the economy.
I think it was a reply to a previous post which said that poor people are lazy and rich people work hard.
Nobody said that.
You didn't point it out, Notchy, you made it up. Notchy said that "others" said it, as a straw man argument which he could use to have have a go at anyone except him. . It's a fantasy.
A wealthy person puts more £ into the UK coffers than a poor person, right? Don't divert into crap about proportions, just measure the £s.
If someone can fiddle to evade a load of tax, he's probably paying several times that. I know there are exceptions which makes headlines JD likes to quote, but show me evidence it doesn't happen right down the scale.
So stop moaning and get richer, so you can pay more tax.
