Hi Guys,

As usual I only seem to post on here for help!

But so far you've never let me down! :)

Anyway, had a recent problem with the Freezer unit detailed above.

Basically, it's started to trip the electricity ring it's on - which then trips the whole electrics in the house.

So I've isolated that it's definitely this appliance, and I've checked that it isn't the socket that it uses. I've also changed the fuse in the plug. All no joy.

The weird thing is I defrosted the unit, cleaned it all out etc, left it a few weeks and plugged it back in and it WORKED for almost 4 weeks, no problems, until yesterday, when I came back to a dark home!

Does anybody have any idea what has caused/is causing this problem???

Please help, chaps.

Rich

If you have established the fault definately is with the appliance then I presume you have a multimeter, so do a resistance check between live neutral & earth for a short circuit & disconnect the components (compressor, thermostat, choke etc.) one at a time until the fault dissappears & you have established the exact fault. If the mcb/rcd trips at power on then the fault is "hard on" & you should be able to identify it without too much trouble.
