text editor garbled when posting a message (firefox, chrome)

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere but i cannot find any mention of it.
When deleting or inserting text in the "message body" text editor the display can get very messed up.

It doesn't update itself and sort of over types on itself. Some text gets hidden behind blank spots and it's very messy and hard to see where you're at.
I use chrome as my browser but i had the same problems when i used Firefox. I have just checked and internet explorer works ok - how annoying!

well i downloaded and checked the latest version of firefox and you are quite right. but i definitely used to have the same problems as i have now with chrome.

having said that i am having difficulty in reproducing the problem and now as i type it appears to be mostly behaving itself! i will try and narrow down the problem.
well it is doing it again when i go back up a line and try to insert a word. but not in firefox 3.
