Thanks to this website, lots of googling and a very helpful and understanding (Corgi-registered) uncle, I've finally got heating and hot water!
My very understanding uncle, who wouldn't take anything for his trouble, has replaced the pressure vessel, main heat exchanger, pump and combustion chamber on my poor old Vaillant boiler.
Without a doubt, if I'd had to pay for labour costs on the parts that needed replacing, I'd have been facing buying a new combi boiler. Instead we managed to buy the parts for about £350.
This website has been excellent in terms of helping me understand what was wrong with the boiler and I've actually learned a lot!
I've recommended it to others to come for advice with plumbing and DIY probs -- thanks peeps!
