thanks to gas4you, clf-gas, twgas and whitespirit66 for your recent help in gettting my boiler back in action, replaced the spark generator and the termocouple and gave the whole thing a good clean out and hey presto working fine.

hopefully I may have just sorted out another problem, testing now, where my upstairs rads are hot and downstairs cold. tried closing the upstairs ones to force the heat to the lower which worked on 2 out of 3 until i reopened the upstairs ones, the downstairs then went cold again.

Suspected a blockage as the pump, valves etc all working fine.

before disconnecting pipes i have put in sentital x400 sludge remover and got all downstairs rads hot after running though system for about 4 hours then closing upstairs rads, just opened the up and hopefully all rads will remain hot.

thanks for the initial help and merry christmas to all

JW :P

If your circulating pump is too weak to overcome the resistance and move the water to the downstairs rads, then can you guess what you need to replace?
